Mai earned her master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from The American University in Cairo. 

She received her clinical training in both inpatient and outpatient settings at entities that include The Behman Hospital and The Psychological Counseling and Training Center at AUC. In her training and practice, she has worked with adults with a wide range of psychological, emotional, and family issues including stress, depression, anxiety, panic disorder, career coaching, grief, psychosis, existential issues, and relationship problems. 

 

Mai has a special passion for parenting; she received her parenting training in the UK in 2014-2015. She is certified from Positive Parenting UK and has an exclusive license of practice in Egypt from The Parent Practice London. Since 2015, she has trained and consulted hundreds of parents, teachers, and social workers on children’s wellbeing and positive parenting techniques. She works as a parenting educator in schools, nurseries, NGOs, and multinational companies. She was hired as a parenting expert by many organizations including UNICEF Egypt, CARE International, and John Gerhart Center at AUC, as well as many national campaigns on positive parenting, bullying, parenting the early and the teenage years, and lately parenting during COVID-19. Mai provides practical solutions for dealing with common parenting challenges including child self-confidence, discipline, dealing with difficult emotions, managing parental stress, behavioral and academic problems, divorce, and family problems. She is trained to support new and expecting parents on their new journey as well as parents of children between toddler and teenage years.

 

In 2019, Mai received the HUSS Award for her outstanding achievement and contributions to the psychology department at AUC and the IFAH Award from Dubai for her contributions to the field of mental health.

Mai is trained to work with couples on relationship and martial problems. She utilizes the Gottman method, Imago therapy, and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to provide pre-marital counseling and to help married couples reconnect and work towards a healthier relationship. She has experience in working with many relationship issues including communication, infidelity, and unhealthy relationship patterns. She also works with blended families and families going through grief, divorce, remarriage, and custody issues.
