SAMER HABIB, M.ED.
Samer Habib, M.Ed. is a professional mental health counselor. He earned his master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Pennsylvania State University in the US in 2022. He is also a member of PSI CHI (Psychology Honor Society).
Samer received a comprehensive training in several modalities of evidence-based psychotherapy and gained clinical experience through working in different settings. He rounded his expertise in counseling young adults and adults by working at the Edwin L. Herr Clinic and the Counseling and Psychological Services at Pennsylvania State University. He has experience working with individuals from different cultural backgrounds who present with several presenting concerns. Samer is experienced in working with various psychological disorders and issues, including anxiety, depression, self-esteem, relationship and attachment concerns, grief and sexual trauma. He is comfortable conducting sessions in Arabic and English.
Samer believes that a strong and collaborative relationship with clients is necessary to yield positive therapeutic outcomes. Samer commits to providing clients with a safe, judgment-free space to share about their feelings and experiences where they could feel validated and appreciated.
Samer uses an integrative approach to counseling and tailors his interventions based on the clients’ needs and preferences. He has experience using a psychodynamic approach to help clients gain more insight about how their past experiences shape and impact their functioning in the present, as well as an emotion-focused approach to help them process their feelings about past and current experiences. Samer also received trainings in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which he uses to help clients change how they perceive themselves and the world around them, and learn different skills to better manage their concerns.
