TAMER ELKATTAN, MA.

Therapist

Tamer holds a Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology from the American University in Cairo. He completed the Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills training and holds a graduate diploma in Learning and Development from the UK-based Chartered Institute for Personnel and Development. Tamer is currently completing a Certified Clinical Trauma Practitioner training and is passionate about helping clients with traumatic experiences. Tamer also holds a BSc degree in Pharmacy and is a licensed pharmacist.

During his supervised clinical training, Tamer worked with clients ranging from late adolescence to midlife with a focus on post-traumatic distress, social and relationship issues, and difficulties with grief, romance, sexuality, body image, parental attachment, physical disability, and adjustment.

He believes in his clients’ ability to develop and grow once they uncover their deeply held beliefs about themselves and others. Tamer uses psychological theories to tailor his approach to clients’ individual psychological tendencies and the hardships they have endured. He views therapy as a joint journey, exploring how adversities have impacted clients’ beliefs and providing tools to overcome their difficulties and ultimately ease their suffering.
